Good afternoon and welcome to our meeting for April 14, 2020. Regular meetings are
held on the second and fourth Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Public hearings are held at 7:00
p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Because of the present state of emergency, and until further notice, members of
the public are urged not to attend Board of Supervisor meetings in person. All
are encouraged to view and participate in meetings through electronic means.
Meetings may be viewed live on RVTV, Channel 3, or on the County’s website
https://roanokecountyva.gov(and accessed by clicking on the “Watch Board
Meetings Online” button). Prior to and during meetings, citizens may share
comments by email (to djacks@roanokecountyva.gov) or by phone (540-776-
7278). When submitting comments, please include your name and address.
Comments submitted by email and by phone will be read aloud during meetings,
subject to reasonable time limitations.

D.PUBLIC HEARING AND FIRST READING OF ORDINANCES
1.Public Hearing and First reading of an Emergency Ordinance temporarily
suspending imposition of penalty and interest on tax year 2020 delinquent
(Dueto the Pandemic Disaster, it is
personal property tax until August 1, 2020
requested that following the public hearing, upon a four-fifths vote of the
Board, the second reading be waived and the ordinance adopted as an
emergency measure.)

E.PUBLIC HEARING AND ADOPTION OF ORDERS
1.Public hearing for citizen comments on the following items: Calendar Year 2020
Real Estate, Personal Property and Machinery and Tools Tax Rates(Laurie
Gearheart, Director of Finance andManagement Services)
2.Request to adopt the following taxes rates:
(a) Order setting the tax rate on Real Estate in the County of Roanoke for the
calendar year 2020;
(b) Order setting the tax levy on Personal Property situate in the County of
Roanoke for the calendar year 2020;
(c) Order setting the tax levy on a classification of personal property -
Machinery and Tools - situate in the County of Roanoke for calendar year
2020(Laurie Gearheart, Director of Finance andManagement Services)

3.Request to accept the three donations totaling $4,500 to help fund the purchase

5.Request to accept and allocate funds in the amount of $4,607.40 from the

6.Resolution expressing the appreciation of the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke
County to Donn L. Belz, Police Office IV, upon his retirement after more than five
(5) years of service
