Board Meeting Speach
Good afternoon. My name is Lisa Ann Chrisman, and I am a
resident at Friendship Ridgecrest Independent Living
Apartments for almost two months. The words independent
living means yes, I can live on my own. However, I am disabled,
an older adult and low income. These disadvantages can make
living very hard and discouraging. The amenities Friendship
provides allow me to live comfortable, safe and happy life.
Taking away the tax-exempt status would mean cuts in budgets
which may reflect changes in the amenities offered to myself and
others. I depend on such things as transportation, a well-
maintained apartment and grounds along with the community
events and security services provided to help me to feel
comfortable and cared for. Community events help me to have
fellowship with other residents and it is pulling me out of the
shell I have been keeping around me. Keeping my apartment
well-maintained gives me peace of mind from worrying about
repairs. The security services provided helps me, a domestic
abuse survivor, to live without fear of crime. I hope you will
reconsider your stance on revoking our tax exemption status so
I may continue to be ableto live the happy and well cared for life
I have now. Thank you for your time.
