This message was sent from outside the Roanoke County email system. Report Suspicious ‌ From:Alan Novitsky To:Rhonda Perdue Subject:[EXTERNAL] - Proposed Second Entrance to Montgomery Village Date:Monday, December 15, 2025 7:03:12 PM TO: Roanoke County Board of Supervisors I would like to add my support to construct the proposed second entrance to Montgomery Village off Muse Drive. I have lived in this subdivision since 1992. Living here since then I have seen the need for a second entrance to the subdivision. On most days the single entrance off Finney drive connecting to Hardy Road is fine. However, I have seen small traffic backups occur during busy times. This is more a nuisance and inconvenience than anything. However, there have been a good number of times in which a second entrance would have been beneficial. First and foremost is anytime there is inclement winter weather. To exit the subdivision, you must leave via Finney Drive, which flows DOWNHILL straight into Hardy Road. The hill ices up quickly and coupled with snowfall gets very slick and dangerous. If there was a stop light there to help stop traffic on Hardy Road, the situation would be much less dangerous. There have been a number of accidents at that intersection over the years. Some due to excessive speed from vehicles traveling on Hardy Road, as well as some that were weather related. VDOT refuses to install a traffic signal there, as well as lowering the speed on Hardy Road to a much-needed 35MPH. Cars traveling from Bedford County west into Roanoke and many times EXCEEDING the posted 45 MPH. More so than not this is the case! From my memory, we have never had any kind of situation where Hardy is completely blocked. God forbid; all it would take is a major fire in one of those homes and the subdivision would be blocked for HOURS! Yes, this can be looked at as an inconvenience, but what if a resident had a medical emergency that required medical attention where seconds, not minutes mattered? Who would answer for that? This is a great chance to correct some long-standing issues. I fully understand that residents on that street are greatly objectionable to this proposal. I would probably be as well if I lived there. But sometimes the needs of many sometimes must outweigh the needs of the few. I hope you will consider the proposal looking at some of the points that I just presented. Sincerely, Alan P Novitsky Pedigo Lane
