Dear Board of Supervisors Roanoke County,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed regulations restricting abortion
clinics through zoning changes. I am concerned that these regulations may be designed to
effectively prohibit these facilities, and I disagree with this item being included on a consent
agenda.
This is a matter of significant public interest, yet most citizens are unaware of the proposal.
Because of the impact these restrictions would have on community health and safety, this item
should be removed from the consent agenda and reconsidered at a future meeting. This would
allow the necessary time to make the public fully aware of exactly what regulations are being
proposed.
We must ensure our locality is not responsible for putting women in dangerous situations by
essentially making abortion illegal due to a lack of access near their homes. I urge you to
allow for a transparent and open public discussion on this matter before any further action is
taken.
