Act, leadership in removing the provisions of Gramm-Rudman from
the STAA, help in retaining the tax exempt status for municipal
financing, and effective dates of legislation and federal policy.
Alfred C. Anderson, Treasurer for Roanoke County,
I
reported to Senator Trible the problems facing the County and
surrounding localities on having to file Form 1099 to the
Internal Revenue Service and to citizens. Mr. Anderson felt that
this form is a waste of money since the majority of Roanoke
County citizens do not need this information.
Senator Trible reported to the Board that he would be
happy to assist the County in any way possible and that it was
imperative that the Board remain in contact with his office. He
also reported to Mr. Anderson that the Senate Finance Committee
has met and determined that the 1099 is required for income taxes
and since local governments do not impose an income tax, the
filing of the 1099 is not necessary.
I
Supervisor Garrett also inquired about the problem with
the limits of liability regarding insurance.
Supervisor Johnson thanked Senator Trible for meeting
with the Board and presented him with a Roanoke County Baseball
cap and a Roanoke County lapel pin.
