The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors of Roanoke
County, Virginia, met this day at the Roanoke County
Administration Center, this being an adjourned meeting from June
11, 1985.
IN RE:
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman McGraw called the meeting to order at 4:11 p.m.
The roll call was taken.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Steven A. McGraw; Vice-Chairman
Athena E. Burton; Supervisors Harry C.
Nickens, Gary J. Minter and Alan H. Brittle
(left at 10:00 p.m.)
MEMBERS ABSENT:
None
IN RE:
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Rob Stalzer, Planning Coordinator, introduced the
Comprehensive Plan to the Board and reported that production time
would be sixty (60) to ninety (90) days after July 1, 1985.
Jim Lehe, Planner, presented the Board with a final
update of the Development Framework Guide, Future Land Use Guide,
and the Resource Protection Plan.

Chairman McGraw called for a dinner recess at 6:20 p.m.

Chairman McGraw called the meeting to order at 7:45
p.m.

IN RE:
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Planning Coordinator, Rob Stalzer, presented the final
update on the Transportation Plan.
Bonnie Newlon, Associate Planner, presented the
Community Facilities portion of the Comprehensive Plan with
updated maps.
Supervisor Nickens moved that any suggestions by Board
members regarding the Comprehensive Plan be sent to the staff by
June l4, 1985, at 5:00 p.m. The motion carried by a unanimous
voice vote.
The planning staff reported that they will be
presenting the land use maps to the Homebuilders Association on
June 13, 1985.
Supervisor Burton moved to stop the clock at 9:55 p.m.
Supervisor Brittle offered a substitute motion to adjourn until
4:00 p.m. on June 13, 1985. Supervisor Brittle's substitute
motion failed by the following recorded vote:
AYES: Supervisor Brittle
NAYS: Supervisors Nickens, Minter, Burton, and McGraw
Supervisor Burton's motion to stop the clock passed by
the following recorded vote:
AYES: Supervisors Nickens, Burton, and McGraw
NAYS: Supervisors Minter and Brittle
Supervisor Nickens moved that Sally Turner,
Administrative Analyst be instructed to come up with a plan to
survey for three months on advertising public hearings in both
the morning and the evening editions of the newspaper. The
motion carried by a unanimous voice vote with Supervisor Brittle
absent.
Supervisor Nickens moved to adjourn until 4:00 p.m.
Thursday June 13, 1985. The motion carried by a unanimous voice
vote with Supervisor Brittle absent.
