The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia,
met this day in open session at the Roanoke County Administration
Center, Roanoke, Virginia, this being an adjourned meeting from
the January 24, 1984, session.
IN RE:
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman, Harry C. Nickens, called the meeting to
order at 1:10 p.m. The roll call was taken.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman, Harry C. Nickens; Vice Chairman,
Athena E. Burton; Supervisors Gary J.
Minter, Alan H. Brittle, Steven A. McGraw

IN RE:
VINTON LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION/RECONSTRUCTION
County Administrator, Donald R. Flanders, submitted
the Bid Committee Report recommending acceptance of the proposal
of Q. M. Tomlinson, Inc. and Supervisor Brittle moved to adopt
the prepared resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 84-28 AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO Q. M. TOMLINSON, INC. FOR
CERTAIN CONSTRUCTION AND RECONSTRUCTION
TO THE VINTON BRANCH LIBRARY
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke
County, Virginia, as follows:
1. That that certain bid of Q. M. Tomlinson, Inc. to provide
I
certain construction and reconstruction to the vinton Branch
Library at a fixed fee of $25,000.00 and to hereafter on or
before March 13, 1984, provide for guaranteed maximum cost of
such construction and reconstruction, including the
aforesaid fixed fee, be, and said bid hereby is, ACCEPTED, the
same being the lowest and best bid made to the County to perform

2. That all other bids received in the premises are hereby
rejected and the Clerk is directed to so notify such bidders and
express the County's appreciation for the submission of such
bids; and
3. That the County Administrator be, and hereby is,

authorized and directed to execute on behalf of Roanoke County
such documents as may be needful and necessary in the premises,
all of which shall be upon form approved by the County Attorney.

NAYS:
None
Mr. Flanders submitted a report prepared by Mr.
George Garretson and the Department of Development on projected
library needs for Roanoke County. There was some discussion as
to whether to expand the vinton Branch Library at the present
time. Supervisor Minter requested a report on February 14th
regarding the cost of expansion at this time.

At 1:25 p.m., Supervisor Brittle moved to adjourn,
and the motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
