The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia,
met this day at the Roanoke County Administration Center,
Roanoke, Virginia, this being a scheduled Budget Work Session.
IN RE: CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Nickens called the meeting to order at 9:15
p.m. The roll call was taken:

Supervisor Gary J. Minter

IN RE: DISCUSSION
Supervisor Minter arrived at 9:32 a.m. The School
Budget was the topic of discussion for this Budget Work Session.
Pursuant to exchanging ideas and individual comments by each
supervisor, Supervisor Minter moved that the local share to be
funded to the Roanoke County School Administration be a minimum
amount of $23,000,000. The motion carried by the following roll
call vote:
AYES:
Supervisors McGraw, Minter, Brittle
NAYS:
Supervisors Burton, Nickens

IN RE: RECESS
Chairman Nickens called for a recess at 10:30 a.m.
IN RE: RECONVENEMENT
The meeting reconvened at 10:50 a.m. with a
continuation review of the individual departmental budgets. In

follow-up to his suggestion of providing equal County services
to the citizens who reside in the Town of Vinton, Chairman
Nickens directed that the Fire and Emergency Coordinator, Tommy
Fuqua, prepare a report for the April 30, 1984, scheduled Budget
Work Session outling the details of this concept.

IN RE: ADJOURNMENT
At 12:35 p.m. Supervisor Minter moved to adjourn to
April 30, 1984, at 12:00 noon for the purpose of a public
communication kickoff, a continuation of the Budget Work
Sessions, and an Executive Session pursuant to the Code of
Virginia, Section 2.1-344{a) (I), (2), (4), and (6) to discuss
personnel, real estate, location of prospective business or
industry, and legal matters. The motion carried by a unanimous
voice vote.
