The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, met this day in
a special session at the Roanoke County Administration Center, Roanoke,
Virginia, this being the first Wednesday of the month of February, 1983.
IN RE:
CALL TO ORDER - SPECIAL SESSION
The special meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman
Nickens at 5:04 p.m. The roll call was taken.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisors Harry C. Nickens, Athena E. Burton, and
Gary J. Minter.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Supervisors May W. Johnson and Robert E. Myers.
Vice-Chairman Nickens read the call, which was signed by
Chairman May W. Johnson and Supervisor Gary J. Minter, as follows:
"Please call a special meeting of the Board of Supervisors
for 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, 1983, for the purpose of considering
certain bids received by the County of Roanoke for a certain advance life
support ambulance for such action of the Board as the Board may be advised."
IN RE:
REPORT OF BID COMMITTEE
Superintendent of Fiscal Management, John M. Chambliss,
Jr., reported that four bids were received and reviewed by the Rescue Squad
and staff for the purchase of a new ambulance for the Hollins Rescue Squad.

The Bid Committee recommended that these bids be rejected and requested
authorization to proceed with rebidding.
Supervisor Minter moved for adoption of the following prepared
resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 83-21 REJECTING ALL BIDS MADE TO
THE COUNTY OF ROANOKE TO FURNISH TO THE COUNTY A
CERTAIN ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT AMBULANCE.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County,
Virginia, as follows:
1. That all those certain bids made to the County of Roanoke to
furnish to the County a certain advanced life support ambulance be, and
same hereby are, REJECTED: and
2. That the County Administrator be, and hereby is, directed to
cause to be prepared more specific specifications upon which to bid the
aforesaid ambulance purchase and to cause same to be rebid; and
3. That the Clerk to the Board is directed to express the County's
appreciation for the bids heretofore received.
Adopted by the following roll call vote:

A YES: Supervisors Burton, Nickens, Minter
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Supervisors Johnson and Myers
IN RE: ADJOURNMENT
At 5:09 p.m. the meeting was adjourned on the motion of
Supervisor Minter and a unanimous voice vote.
