The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, met this day
in open session at the Roanoke County Administration Center, Roanoke,
Virginia, this being the 1983 - 1984 Budget Study Work Session
IN RE:
CALL TO ORDER
At 2:45 p.m. Vice Chairman Nickens called the meeting to order.
The roll call was taken.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Vice Chairman, Harry C. Nickens; Supervisors Athena E.
Burton, Gary J. Minter
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Chairman, May W. Johnson; Supervisor Robert E. Myers
IN RE:
WORK SESSION
The following non-profit agencies appeared before the Board at ten-
minute intervals:
Free Clinic of Roanoke Valley - Estelle Nichols
Roanoke Area Ministries - Leonard Pick
Planned Parenthood - Kathy Haney
Child Abuse Council - Wendy Moore
Red Cross - Mrs. Hillman and John Kane
Association of Retarded Citizens - Mike Trowbridge
TAP - Ann Poskocil
Roanoke Valley Council of Community Services - Mary Ellen Verdu
Mental Health Services - Tom Chapman
Virginia Western Community College - Mark Emick
Trust - Rebecca Noftsinger
At 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Lucas, of the Department of Social Services, was
present.

At 4:55 p.m. Vice Chairman Nickens called for a ten-minute recess.

WORK SESSION - SCHOOL BUDGET
At 5:05 p.m. Vice Chairman Nickens called the meeting to order. The
School Board members were present to discuss their 1983 - 1984 budget.

At 6:05 p.m. Vice Chairman Nickens called for a dinner recess.
WORK SESSION - CONTINUATION OF SCHOOL BUDGET REVIEW
At 8:05 p.m. Vice Chairman Nickens reconvened the meeting and
called it to order. The remainder of the school budget was reviewed.
IN RE:
ADJOURNMENT
At 9:45 p.m. Supervisor Minter moved to adjourn the meeting, and
the motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
