The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, met this
day in open session in the Conference Room of the County Administrator's
Office at 430 Clay Street, Salem, Virginia, this being a special meeting for
the purpose of distributing applications for the position of County Administ-
rator and any other matters the Board may agree upon this 22nd day of
September, 1981.
Members present: Chairman Robert E. Myers, Vice-Chairman Lawrence E.
Terry, Supervisors May W. Johnson, Edward C. Park, Jr. and T. M. White
Members absent: None
IN RE:
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Myers called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
IN RE:
TRAVEL REQUEST
On motion of Supervisor Terry and a unanimous voice vote, Tim Gubala
County Planner, was authorized to represent the Board on the Fifth District
Employment Training Consortium Policy Board meeting in Blacksburg, Virginia,
on October 8 & 9, 1981.
IN RE:
RESOLUTION NO. 2970
AUTOMOBILES.
ACCEPTING CERTAIN BIDS TO SELL VARIOUS
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia,
as follows:
1. That the following automobiles are no longer serviceable and of
no use to Roanoke County and are hereby bold to the highest bidder as
follows:
1977 Plymouth 77-115
$256.00
1978 Plymouth 78-116
$256.00
1976 Matador 76-100
$350.00
2. That the County Administrator is hereby directed to notify the

bidders of the acceptance of their bids and that all other bids for these
vehicles are hereby REJECTED and the County Clerk is directed to so notify
such bidders and express the County's appreciation for the submission of
their bids.
Adopted on motion of Supervisor Johnson and the following recorded vote.

IN RE:
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Interim County Administrator Bruce Mayer informed the Board that
legislature packets are being prepared to present to the General Assembly
by the Chamber of Commerce as represented by Robert Glenn, Attorney. The
Chamber of Commerce is now soliciting input to include in the package.
Board members indicated they will contact Mr. Glenn concerning any
suggestions they may have on the content of the legislature packet.
IN RE:
REIMBURSEMENT OF TPAVEL EXPENSES
I
On motion of Supervisor Johnson and the following recorded vote,
the Board approved reimbursement of travel expenses for Ed Clark as a member
of the Electoral Board, for his trip to Washington, D. C. to deliver the
Ordinances' #2911 & #2912 providing for precinct changes in the County of
Roanoke.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
On motion of Supervisor Terry and a unanimous voice vote, the Board
went into Executive session at 5:45 p.m.
Supervisor White left the meeting at 7:00 p.m.

The Board reconvened in open session at 8:40 p.m. on motion of
Supervisor Terry and a unanimous voice vote.
