Hodge `''f ~ ~~' Subject: Roanoke Valley Work Session Date: December 27, 2000 Attached is a copy of a letter from Roanoke City Mayor Ralph Smith inviting the governing bodies and their chief administrative officials of the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, the Town of Vinton and the Counties of Roanoke, Botetourt, Bedford and Franklin to a joint work session. The meeting will be held on Monday, January 8, 2001 at 12:00 noon at the Jefferson Center, Fitzpatrick Hall, 431 Luck Avenue. Mayor Smith has described this as a work session which is a public meeting and will require that we adjourn from our organizational meeting on January 2 to that meeting if more than two Board members attend the meeting. Supervisor McNamara and I plan to attend. Please let me or Mary Allen know if you will be able to attend and if you have any topics you would like to add to the agenda. RALPH K. Roanoke City Council is honored to host this luncheon meeting at the Jefferson Center, Fitzpatrick Hall, 541 Luck Avenue, S. W., City of Roanoke. This initial meeting will provide an opportunity for all members of City and Town Councils and Boards of Supervisors in Salem,d and to aresent t p cs of mutuaB me est Botetourt, Franklin and Roanoke to get acquainte p and concern for discussion. will be calling the Chair/Mayor of each participating jurisdiction during the next two weeks to discuss topics of interest from each area in order to establish a program for the meeting. Our mutual goal will be to move forward to establish a productive working relationship that will ultimately benefit and serve all citizens of the Greater Roanoke Valley. Please give some thought and discussion to topics to be addressed, and I look forward to talking with you in the near future.
