AT A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ROANOKE
COUNTY, VIRGINIA, HELD AT THE ROANOKE COUNTY ADMINISTRATION
CENTER ON APRIL 22, 1992
RESOLUTION 42292 - 1 DECLARING A LOCAL
EMERGENCY TO EXIST IN ROANOKE COUNTY, VIRGINIA
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Roanoke,
Virginia, does hereby find as follows:
1. That due to the occurrence of major flooding by the
Roanoke River and its tributaries on April 21 and 22, 1992, the
County of Roanoke is facing a condition of immediate peril to the
lives, safety and property of the residents of Roanoke County; and
2. That as a result of this immediate peril, the
proclamation of the existence of an emergency is necessary to
permit the full powers of government to deal effectively with this
condition of peril.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Roanoke, Virginia, that a local
emergency now exists throughout the County of Roanoke; and
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that during the existence
of this emergency the powers, functions, and duties of the Director
of Emergency Services and the Emergency Services organization of
the County of Roanoke shall be those prescribed by the laws of the
Commonwealth of Virginia and the ordinances, resolutions, and
approved plans of the County of Roanoke in order to mitigate the
effects of said emergency.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the County
Administrator be authorized to end the declared emergency when
appropriate.

carried by the following recorded vote:
AYES: Supervisors Johnson, Kohinke, Minnix, Eddy
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Supervisor Nickens
