That for calendar year 1990 the regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, shall be at the Roanoke County Administration Center on Brambleton Avenue, S. W., Roanoke, County Virginia. The meeting dates are set forth below with public hearing scheduled for 7:00 o'clock p.m unless otherwise advertised. That the organizational meeting for 1991 shall be held on Thursday, January 3, 1991 at 9:00 a.m. 3. That the rules of parliamentary procedure for the conduct of all Board meetings shall be Robert's Rules of Order; provided, however, these rules are amended as follows: a. that -a- no second to motions shall be required in order to consider that motion; and b. that the chairman may make motions, seeend metiers'; participate in debate and vote on all matters considered by the Board. The Employee Handbook also authorizes County offices to be closed on any day appointed by the Board of Supervisors or the Governor of Virginia as a legal holiday or for State or County offices to close. RECOMMENDATIONS: It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors ratify the following holiday schedule for the 1990 Calendar Year: New Year's Day January 1 Lee -Jackson -King Day January 15 George Washington Day February 19 Memorial Day May 28 Independence Day July 4 Labor Day September 3 Columbus Day October 8 Veteran's Day November 11 Thanksgiving Day November 22 Day after Thanksgiving Day November 23 Christmas Day December 25 and any day appointed by the Board of Supervisors, or Governor of Virginia as a legal holiday or for State or County offices to close. 3--5 For those offices that remain open on designated holidays or do not otherwise follow the established holiday schedule, the Employee Handbook provides that the total number of holidays shall not exceed 11 days or a total of 88 hours in a calendar year for any employee, plus any additional authorized closing day. A-1390-4 ITEM NUMBER C — AT A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ROANOKE COUNTY, VIRGINIA HELD AT THE ROANOKE COUNTY ADMINISTRATION CENTER MEETING DATE: January 3, 1989 AGENDA ITEM: Report from Total Action Against Poverty on fire recovery efforts COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S COMMENTS: SUMMARY OF INFORMATION: Total Action Against Poverty suffered a devastating fire at their headquarters on Shenandoah Avenue on December 23, 1989. The fire destroyed records, 150,000 pounds of food and most of its offices. Officials from the organization have requested time on the agenda to speak to the Board of Supervisors on their proposed recovery efforts. Elmer C.
