Roanoke, Virginia 24018 October 31, 1994 The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, met this day at the Roanoke County Administration Center, this being an adjourned meeting from September 13, for the purposes of touring several projects in Roanoke County. IN RE: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Eddy called the meeting to order at 12:20 p.m. The roll call was taken. KEKBERS PRESENT: Chairman Lee B. Eddy, Vice Chairman Edward G. Kohinke, Supervisors Bob L. JOhnson, H. Odell "Fuzzy" Minnix, Harry C. Nickens KEKBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Elmer C. Hodge, County Administrator, John M. Chambliss, Assistant County Administrator, Don C. Myers, Assistant County Administrator, Anne Marie Green, Community Relations Director, Mary H. Allen, Clerk to the Board, Gary Robertson, utility Director, Timothy w. GUbala, Economic Development Director IN RE: TOUR The Board of Supervisors and County staff toured the 844 October 31. 1994 - following projects now underway in Roanoke County. ~ Hanqinq Rock/Kessler Mill Public Service Center Mr. Gubala described plans for the Hanging Rock Preservation Foundation. Mr. Hodge pointed out the need to begin improvements at the Public Service Center located on Kessler Mill. ~ Water Treatment Plant Mr. Robertson updated the Board of Supervisors· on construction of the water treatment plant. ~ CamD Roanoke Mr. Chambliss described the volunteer efforts to renovate Camp Roanoke. ~ sDrinq Hollow Reservoir and Dam Overlook The Board discussed future potential recreational activities for the reservoir. ~ Valley TechPark Mr. Gubala updated the Board of Supervisors on construction and the marketing efforts at the park. IN RE: EXECUTIVE SESSION At 2:26 p.m., Supervisor Minnix moved to go into Executive Session pursuant to the Code of Virginia 2.1-344 A (5) Discussion concerning a prospective business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of the business or industry's interest in locating in the community. The motion carried by the following October 31, 1994 845 recorded vote: AYES: Supervisors Johnson, Kohinke, Minnix, Nickens, Eddy NAYS: None IN RE: CERTIFICATION RESOLUTION R-103194-1 Supervisor Johnson moved to return to Open Session and adopt the Certification Resolution. The motion carried by the following recorded vote: AYES: Supervisors Johnson, KOhinke, Minnix, Nickens, Eddy NAYS: None RESOLUTION 103194-1 CERTIFYING EXECUTIVE MEETING WAS HELD IN CONFORMITY WITH THE CODE OF VIRGINIA WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia has convened an executive meeting on this date pursuant to an affirmative recorded vote and in accordance with the provisions of The Virginia Freedom of Information Act; and WHEREAS, Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia requires a certification by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, that such executi ve meeting was conducted in conformity with Virginia law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, hereby certifies that, to the best of each members knowledge: 846 October 31, 1994 - - 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting which this certification resolution applies, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or considered by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia. On motion of Supervisor Johnson and carried by the following recorded vote: AYES: Supervisors Johnson, Kohinke, Minnix, Nickens, Eddy NAYS: None IN RE: ADJOURNMENT At 2: 44 p.m. Supervisor Johnson moved to adjourn.
