3/24/1986 - Special ~ 54 Roanoke County Board of Supervisors Roanoke County Administration Center 3738 Brambleton Avenue, SW Roanoke, Virginia 24015 March 24, 1986 The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, met this day at the Roanoke County Administration Center, this being a special meeting to discuss the budget. IN RE: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Brittle called the meeting to order at 8:08 a.m. The roll call was taken. MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Alan H. Brittle; Vice-Chairman Bob Johnson; Supervisors Steven A. McGraw, Harry C. Nickens, and Lee Garrett MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Elmer C. Hodge, County Administrator; John Chambliss, Assistant County Administrator of Management Services; Dianne Hyatt, Fiscal Management; Reta Busher, Fiscal Management; Bobbie Hall, Deputy Clerk; John Hubbard, Assistant County Administrator of Public Facilities; Timothy Gubala, Assistant County Administrator of Community Development; Fred Anderson, Roanoke County Treasurer; Wayne Compton, Commissioner of Revenue; Sheriff O. S. Foster; Tommy Fuqua, Fire and Emergency Services Coordinator; Clifford Craig, utilities; Bev Waldo, Youth Haven II Director; Harry Franks, Data Processing; Gary Huff, Public Facilities IN RE: BUDGET WORK SESSION County Administrator, Elmer C. Hodge, presented a list of budgetary priorities established by the Board of Supervisors at an earlier work session. The priorities are: 1. Education 541 March 24, 1986 2. Public Safety 3. Economic Development 4. Regional Cooperation 5. Financial Strength 6. Staff Development 7. Space Mr. Hodge reported that each department was given a target dollar amount to prepare their budget. The target amount was similar to the budget of 1985-86. He also reported that April 8, 1986, is the tentative date by which a balanced budget will be presented to the Board of Supervisors. The following departments presented their proposed budgets with a list of "add backs" if additional funding by the Board is obtained: John Hubbard, Assistant County Administrator of Public Facilities; Timothy Gubala, Assistant County Administrator of Community Development; Alfred C. Anderson, Roanoke County Treasurer; Wayne Compton, Commissioner of Revenue; Sheriff o. S. Foster; Tommy Fuqua, Fire and Emergency Services Coordinator; Clifford Craig, utilities; and John Chambliss, Assistant County Administrator of Management Services.
