Roanoke, VA 24015 I April 13, 1984 The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, met this day at the Roanoke County Administration Center, Roanoke, Virginia, this being an adjourned meeting from April 10, 1984, to meet with the School Board for the purpose of exchanging information relative to the School Board Budget for the 1984-1985 fiscal year. IN RE: CALL TO ORDER Vice Chairman, Athena E. Burton, called the meeting to order at 4:07 p.m. The roll call was taken: I MEMBERS PRESENT: Vice Chairman, Athena E. Burton¡ Supervisors Steven A. McGraw, Gary J. Minter MEMBERS ABSENT: Chairman, Harry C. Nickens, Supervisor Alan H. Brittle IN RE: DISCUSSION Superintendent of Schools, Bayes Wilson, briefly summarized the School budget request indicating that the greatest percentage comprised an increase in teachers' salaries along with a request for additional school busses at an approximate cost of $23,000 each. Comparative data from other local school systems was discussed, and Vice Chairman Burton recommended that job I descriptions be prepared for all school personnel in order to more adequately evaluate responsibilities and salaries compared to other County employees and other school divisions in the area. County Administrator, Donald R. Flanders, read a statement from Supervisor Alan H. Brittle which outlined his thoughts and ideas on the school budget. ~ ~ r 5 1 r:;t " 4-13-84 ..
