The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia,
met this day at the Roanoke County Administration Center,
Roanoke, Virginia, this being a special meeting with the Roanoke
County Planning Commission.
IN RE: CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Nickens called the meeting to order at 8:00
p.m. The roll call was taken:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman, Harry C. Nickens; Vice-Chairman,
Athena E. Burton; Supervisors Alan H. Brittle,
Steven A. McGraw, Gary J. Minter

MEMBERS ABSENT:
None
Chairman Hufford called the Roanoke County Planning
Commission to order. The roll call was taken:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman, Thomas M. Hufford, J. R. Bateman,
Jr., J. R. Jones, Bob Johnson, Mabel Smith
MEMBERS ABSENT:
None
IN RE: DISCUSSION
Superintendent of the Department of Development,
~imothy Gubala, acted as facilitator to identify zoning and
planning issues and challenges facing the Planning Commission and
the County Board for the purpose of preparing the County
I
ßovernment for the next twenty years.
The following vehicles used by the County Board and the
Planning Commission to carry out their responsibilities were
~dentified:
Statutes, County Board of Supervisors Manual,
Statutes on Planning Commission Origin, Ordinances

The County Board and the Planning Commission agreed to
set up a plan process for the development of strategy for the
future. I
IN RE: ADJOURNMENT
Supervisor Minter moved to adjourn at 9:55 p.m., and
the motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
