The Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia
met this day In open session at the Roanoke County Administrator
Center, Roanoke, Virginia, this being an adjourned meeting of the
Board.
IN RE:
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Harry C. Nickens called the meeting to order
at 4:15 p.m. The roll call was taken:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Harry C. Nickens; Vice Chairman
Athena E. Burton; Supervisors Alan H. Brittle,
Steven A. McGraw, Gary J.Minter.

IN RE:
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Supervisor Burton moved to go into Executive Session
pursuant to Section 2.1-344 (a) (1) (2) and (6) to discuss
personnel, legal, and real estate matters. The motion carried by

IN RE:
OPEN SESSION
At 5:00 p.m. Supervisor Minter moved to return to Open
Session. The motion carried by a unanImous voice vote.
Work Session - Comprehensive Plan Development - Donald
R. Flanders, County Administrator called on Mr. Rob Stalzer,

Director of Planning. Mr. Stalzer introduced the new County
Planner James Lehe.
The Board reviewed Mr. Stalzer's scheduled work
projects and activities. Supervisor Burton raised a concern as
to how to get the Comprehensive Plan completed earlier.
Supervisor Minter requested the staff report an alternative time

schedule that would complete the Plan earlier than July 1, 1985
at the August 24 meeting.
IN RE:
RECESS
Chairman Nickens recessed the meeting at 6:00 p.m.

IN RE:
RECONVENEMENT
The meeting reconvened at 7:50 p.m.
Mr. Stalzer presented the goals and objectives from
the 1974 Comprehensive Plan. The Board felt that a brief,
onClse goal statement should be prepared by the staff.
The Overlay Concepts for future land use development
nd performance zoning were outlined by Mr. Stalzer.
The Board determined that a joint meeting should be
eld with the Planning Commission on August 23 at 5:00 p.m.
