I A Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors was held this day at the Sheraton Motor Inn, Salem, Virginia, for the following purposes: 1. Consider bids for the purchase of vehicles. 2. Any other matter unanimously agreed upon by the members of the Board. Members Present: R. E. Hilton, Jr., Chairman, ; Thomas H. Beasley, Jr., C. Lawrence Dodson and Richard C. Flora. Absent: Vice-Chairman John G. Seibel. William F. Clark, County Administrator, and Edward A. Natt, County Attorney, were also in attendance. I Chairman Hilton called the meeting to order at 8:30 p.m. IN RE: RESOLUTION NO. 1085 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN MOTOR VEHICULAR EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, bids were received on Monday, July 15, 1974, and opened in the office of the Public Works Superintendent of Roanoke County for various items of motor vehicular equipment included in the 1974-75 budget; and WHEREAS, a recommendation has been made that the County purchase the vehicular equipment hereinafter set out from the bidders hereinafter specified, said bids being the I lowest bids received fully complying with the County's spec i- fications for said equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County, Virginia, that the bids herein- after set out be, and the same are hereby accepted, the County -->l ...:.~...~_ !l...-... _...-.........__...... ",..,_ __.>>..... ..... 502 7-29-74 Administrator being authorized and directed to execute the requisite purchase order for said equipment: 1. Five (5) ~-ton pickup trucks from Vinton Motor Company at a cost of $3,110.00 per unit, a total cost of $15,550.00. I 2. One (1) 5-cubic-yard dump truck from Vinton Motor Company at a cost of $6,762.50. 3. One (1) 9-ton tag-a-long trailer from Salem Truck and Equipment, Inc. at a cost of $2,687.00. 4. Three (3) 2-door compact station wagons from Vinton Motor Company at a cost of $3,250.00 per unit, a total cost of $9,750.00. 5. Three (3) 2-door compact sedans from Vinton Motor Company at a cost of $2,945.00 per unit, a total cost of $8,835.00. I 6. Five (5) 24-cubic-yard refuse packers from Tidy Corporation at a cost of $15,780.35 per unit, a total cost of $78,901.75. On motion of Supervisor Dodson, seconded by Supervisor Flora and adopted by the following recorded vote: AYES: Mr. Beasley, Mr. Dodson, Mr. Flora, Mr. Hilton NAYS: None ABSENT: Mr. Seibel Supervisor Flora moved that the Board meet in closed session with the Planning Commission and Balzer and Associates on Monday, August 5, 1974 at 6:00 p.m. at the Salem-Roanoke Valley Civic Center for the purpose of discussing the County- wide master plan. The motion was seconded by Supervisor Beasley and adopted by the unanimous voice vote of the members present. I 7-29-74 503 I Supervisor Flora moved that the Board meet in closed session with the Public Service Authority Board on Tuesday evening, August 6, 1974 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Roanoke County School Board for the purpose of reviewing the preliminary sewer report prepared by the consulting firm of Langley, McDonald and Overman. The motion was seconded by Supervisor Beasley and adopted by the unanimous voice vote of the members present. This concluded the business before the Board at this time and the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m. I ~~" ,.", ~ I
