Pursuant to the adjournment of the meeting of
August 13, 1974, the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors met
this day at the Roanoke Civic Center, Roanoke, Virginia.
Members Present: R. E. Hilton, Jr., Chairman,
John G. Seibel, Vice-Chairman, Thomas H. Beasley, Jr., and
Richard C. Flora. Absent: C. Lawrence Dodson. William F. Clark,
County Administrator, and Edward A. Natt, County Attorney, were
also in attendance.
At 1:30 p.m., on the motion of Supervisor Flora,
seconded by Supervisor Beasley and the unanimous voice vote of
the members present, the Board reconvened in open session.
IN RE:
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO HOLD A PUBLIC
HEARING ON THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ROANOKE
COUNTY TO BE USED IN FORMULATING THE
MASTER PLAN FOR ROANOKE COUNTY
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke
County that a public hearing be held on September 20, 1974 at
1:00 p.m., at the Salem-Roanoke Valley Civic Center on the
proposed goals and objectives to be utilized by the Board of
Supervisors of Roanoke County in formulating a master plan for
Roanoke County.
The Clerk of this Board is directed to publish this
notice of public hearing as required by law, pursuant to
Section 15.1-504 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, once
a week for two consecutive weeks in the Roanoke World News, a
newspaper having a general circulation in Roanoke County.
A copy of this notice of public hearing is to be poste
at the front door of the Roanoke County Courthouse.

A copy of the proposed goals and objectives is on
file in the Office of the County Administrator, 306A East Main
Street in Salem, Virginia.

On motion of Supervisor Flora, seconded by Supervisor
Beasley and adopted by the following recorded vote:
AYES:
Mr. Beasley, Mr. Flora, Mr. Seibel, Mr. Hilton
NAYS:
None
ABSENT:
Mr. Dodson
IN RE:
REFERRED TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
On the motion of Supervisor Flora, seconded by
Supervisor Seibel and the unanimous voice vote of the members
present, the following item was this date received, filed and
referred to the Planning Commission for a recommendation:

Petition of John M. Oakey, Inc. for rezoning
approximately five acres of land situate on
the north side of Route 117 at the intersection
of the west side of Deer Branch Road and adjoining
North 11 Drive-In Theater from B-1 to B-2.
At 1:35 p.m., the Board took a brief recess.
At 2:05 p.m., Supervisor Flora left the meeting.
At 2:20 p.m., the Supervisors returned to the Civic
Center and reconvened in open session.
IN RE:
BIDS FOR CATV
The following bids for Cable Television in the Roanoke
Valley were received and opened by the Board, which bids were
read by the Roanoke City Clerk:
1. Viacom International, Inc. with a deposit
of $950.00.

2. Roanoke Valley Cablevision, Inc. with a
deposit of $950.00.
3. Roanoke Valley Cable TV, Inc. with a deposit
of $950.00.
Supervisor Beasley moved that the Board accept the
Roanoke City Clerk's reading of the bids for Cable Television In
the Roanoke Valley.

The motion was seconded by Supervisor Seibel and
adopted by the following recorded vote:
AYES:
Mr. Beasley, Mr. Seibel, Mr. Hilton
NAYS:
None
ABSENT:
Mr. Dodson, Mr. Flora
On the motion of Supervisor Seibel, seconded by
Supervisor Beasley and the unanimous voice vote of the members
present, the bids received for Cable Television in the Roanoke
Valley were referred to the regional CATV Committee and
consultants for consideration, including any necessary public
hearings, with a recommendation back to the Board.
This concluded the business before the Board at this
session, and on the motion of Supervisor Beasley, seconded by
Supervisor Seibel and the unanimous voice vote of the members
present, the meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m. to reconvene
on Tuesday, September 3, 1974 at 1:00 p.m. in the Office of the
County Administrator, 306 A East Main Street in Salem, Virginia.
