A joint Public Hearing of the Board of Supervisors of Roanoke County and the Planning Commission of Roanoke County was held at 1:00 p.m. this date at the Salem-Roanoke Valley Civic I Center with the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, R. E. Hilton, Jr., presiding. The purpose of the joint Public Hearing being to consider adoption of the physical development goals and policies to be used in formulating the Comprehensive Master Plan for Roanoke County. Members present from the Board of Supervisors: Chairman R. E. Hilton, Jr., Vice-Chairman John G. Seibel, Thomas H. Beasley, Jr., C. Lawrence Dodson and Richard C. Flora. Members present from the Planning Commission: William F. Clark, County Administrator, and A. S. Elder , I I A. Guepe, Chairman Robert L. Miley, Vice-Chairman M. E. Maxey, L. and Anthony C. Maier. Absent: David A. Updike. Secretary to the Planning Commission, were also present. Chairman Hilton called the meeting to order at 1 :20 p.m. IN RE: COMPREHENSIVE MASTER PLAN - GOALS AND OBJECTIVES Mr. Donald J. Balzer, Planning Consultant, appeared before the Board and generally outlined the goals and policies to be used in formulating the Comprehensive Master Plan for Roanoke County. Speaking at the public hearing was Mr. C. C. Manning, resident of the Sugar Loaf area. Mr. Manning spoke in favor of the goals and policies as presented. He stated he had not had the time to analyze all aspects, but the overall goals and objectives seemed very good. He questioned whether there could I be any change in the policies. The answerwas that minor changes could be made. I ." I &-8.-1 "J ... ~_ 9-20-74 At this point, the Planning Commission voted to recommend that the Physical Development Goals and Policies as presented at the public hearing be adopted by the Board of Supervisors. 'I Supervisor Flora moved that the Board concur with the recommendation of the Planning Commission and adopt the Physical Development Goals and Policies as presented to be used in formulating the Comprehensive Master Plan for Roanoke County. The motion was seconded by Supervisor Seibel and adopted by the following recorded vote: AYES: Mr. Beasley, Mr. Dodson, Mr. Flora, Mr. Seibel, Mr. Hilton NAYS: None On the motion of Supervisor Flora, seconded by Supervisor Dodson and the unanimous voice vote of the Board, I the meeting was adjourned at 1 :57 p.m. c<<,~ /~ I
