The Economic Development Authority of Roanoke County,Virginia participated in a tour
of the Arnold R.Burton Technical Center located at 1760 Roanoke Blvd,Salem,VA

The EDA participated in a tour of the Arnold R. Burton Technical Center in an effort to gain
insight into the Burton Center and the Economic Development Department's efforts to promote a
partnership between Roanoke County Public Schools and local businesses.
EDA.Members visited with students and teachers to learn about the programs offered such as
mechatronics, engineering, cybersecurity, IT,construction technology, crime investigation,
emergency medical technician and cosmetology to name a few.
Members also learned about the partnership between Roanoke.County and Carilion that is
creating the first in the region nursing certification program for high school students.
As this was an informational tour only,there was no business meeting.
NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING
The next regular meeting is scheduled May 16, 2018 in the 4'1'floor training room, County
Administration Building.
