A. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Woody Windley called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.
ROLL CALL
Megan Baker called the roll.
NEW BUSINESS AND PUBLIC HEARING
1. Approval of a grant agreement between Roanoke County, the Economic Development
Authority of Roanoke County, and Comcast Cable Communications Management,
LLC, for a broadband expansion project.
Peter Lubeck presented the grant agreement between Roanoke County, the Economic
Development Authority and Comcast Cable for a broadband expansion project. Shentel was
unable to perform under the initial agreement, so it was proposed by all parties to have
Comcast take over the project.
On a motion by Jeremy Carroll to approve the proposed agreement with Roanoke County
and Comcast, and to authorize the Chairman to execute it the agreement and, further, move
to approve any similar agreement between the parties for the expansion of broadband
services in the County, that may be necessary to execute before the end of calendar year
2024, in which the EDA will act solely to provide funds, received from the County, to
Comcast, as an economic development incentive grant, such agreements being approved
as to form by counsel to the EDA, seconded by Mike Cagle, the motion carried unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Mike Cagle and seconded by Sunny Shah and a unanimous vote, the meeting
adjourned at 9:12 a.m.
