CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Wright called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Mr. Jones made a motion to approve the agenda. Mr. Beckner seconded the motion,
which passed 4-0.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr, Jones made a motion to approve the June 17, 2015, minutes. Mr. Beckner
seconded' the motion, which passed 4-0.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Mr. Wright nominated Mr. Jones as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for 2016.
Mr. Beckner seconded the motion. There were no other nominations. The nomination
passed with a vote of 4-0.
Mr. Beckner nominated Mr. Thomas as Vice -Chairman. Mr. Wright seconded' the
motion. There were no other nominations. The nomination passed with a vote of 4-0
APPROVAL OF 2016 SCHEDULE
Mr. 'Thomas made a motion to approve the 2016 Board of Zoning Appeals schedule. Mr.
Wright seconded the motion, which passed 4-0.
APPOINTMENT OF ALTERNATES
Mr. Murphy was appointed as Secretary for 2016 calendar year. Mr. Murphy
recommended appointment of planning staff as alternate Board of Zoning Appeals
Secretaries for 2016.
Mr. Wright made a motion to approve the recommendation. Mr. Thomas seconded the
motion, which passed 4-0.

JANUARY 26, 2616
VARIANCES. NEW REQUIREMENTS
Mr. Murphy, Ms. Kuhnel, and Mr. Lubeck provided a brief overview of the changes to the
procedural requirements for the Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Lubeck provided a Board
of Zoning Appeals Legislative Update regarding House Bill 1849 for the Members and
staff. He discussed the elements to establish a right to a variance. Mr. Lubeck and Ms.
Kuhnel discussed the criteria regarding the preponderance of evidence for the Board of
Zoning Appeals cases. Mr. Murphy stated this information will be available to the
members at the Board of Zoning Appeals Public Hearings.
COMMENTS
Mr. Murphy stated the February 5, 2016 Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting has been
canceled.
There being no further business, Mr. Thomas adjourned the meeting at 4:31 p.m.
