Mr. Thompson stated plans are being made to develop an online visual preference survey to cover all areas of the county. Private Road Standards Ms. Cronise provided a brief overview of the proposed private roads standards. She reviewed input received from the Roanoke Regional Homebuilders Association Subcommittee and Roanoke County General Services. She reported on survey results from private road residents within county subdivisions, which included issues such as parking, trash pickup, and snow removal. She discussed grade variation suggested by RRHBA. Commissioners and staff discussed grade variation ranges and concerns regarding the effect on fire and rescue accessibility, trash pickup, parking, and school bus access. Wind Energy Regulations Mr. Thompson provided a brief history of the proposed regulations. He stated the regulations will be incorporated into the county's existing zoning ordinance. He reviewed definitions, various district regulations, and use and design standards. Commissioners and staff discussed regulations regarding aesthetics, noises issues, and removal of defective or abandoned wind structures. Other Comments Mr. Thompson provided an update on the Bobby B. Twine petition, noting the public hearing will be September 7, 2010.
