OCTOBER 17, 2023

WORK SESSION -Mr. Henderson-called-the meeting to order at 6:06 pm. --— -—- - ---- —_
Approval of Agenda
Mr. James made a motion to approve the agenda, which passed 5-0.
Discussion on the Roanoke County 200 Plan
Mr. Thompson explained that these are revised copies of documents that the Planning
Commission has previously reviewed. Mr. Thompson reviewed the history of the
Roanoke County 200 Plan. He noted that many of the maps have also been updated to
provide more clarity to citizens. Mr. Jones presented the demographics chapter of the
Roanoke County 200 Plan.,Mr. James noted that he likes the way that the data is laid
out. He noted that clarification may needed to break out the census data for the Town of
Vinton from Roanoke County. Mr. Woltz noted that this is a massive undertaking, and
everyone has done a fantastic job working on it.

Comments of Planning Commissioners and Staff
Mr. Thompson provided a list of upcoming meetings for the next three months. Mr.
Jones noted that October is the busiest month for the McAffee Knob Trailhead Shuttle,
and encouraged the Planning Commissioners to let people,know about the shuttle. Mr.
Thompson noted that a new Code Enforcement Officer/Planner I, Skylar Camerlinck,
will be starting on October 30th. He notified the Planning Commission of Zoning Code
Enforcement clean-up projects happening within the County. Mr. Thompson provided
the date for the State of the County address to the Planning Commissioners. Mr.
Thompson provided a brief update on Transportation projects in the County. Ms.

Thomas informed the Planning Commissioners of the upcoming transition from
Groupwise to Microsoft 365.
