MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 1, 2023
Commissioners Present:

WORK SESSION
Mr. Henderson called the meeting to order at 6:12 pm.
Approval of Agenda
Mr. James made a motion to approve the agenda, which passed 4-0.
Approval of Minutes
Mr. McMurray made a motion to approve the minutes from October 17, 2023, which
passed 4-0.
Consent Agenda
Mr. James made a motion to approve the consent agenda for December 4, 2023, and
have the public hearing be changed to a work session, which passed 4-0.
Update on Virginia Code Sec.15.2-2204 Notice Requirements
Ms. Lower informed the Planning Commission of changes to the Virginia Code. She
noted that if public hearings are closed and the application is continued, the applicant
will need tore-advertise with the Roanoke Times.
Discussion on the Roanoke County 200 Plan
Mr. Thompson noted that tonight they would be reviewing Masons Cove, Mount
Pleasant, Peters Creek, and Windsor Hills revisions. Mr. Thompson and Mr. Jones
reviewed changes to these Community Planning Area (CPA) documents since March
2023. Mr. Thompson noted that staff would be reviewing Bent Mountain, Cave Spring,
and Glenvar CPA documents at the next Planning Commission meeting.

There were none.
Comments of Planning Commissioners and Staff
Mr. Thompson noted that Jake. Harding's last day was on October 27, 2023, and that
our new Planner I, Skylar Camerlinck, started on October 30, 2023. He informed the
Planning Commission of recent final orders for Glenmary Drive, LLC and Terry Dooley,
Jr. Mr. Thompson noted that the State of the County will be held at Green Ridge
Recreation Center on December 5, 2023. He noted that the Carson Road Community
Meeting is scheduled for November 9, 2023, at Bonsack Elementary School from 5:00
p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ms. Thomas noted that the County Holiday Luncheon is scheduled for
December 13th, 2023, and that the Planning Commission is invited to attend.
