HomeMy WebLinkAbout1/2/2024 - Minutes ROANOKE COUNTY s ,aa) PLANNING COMMISSION 7838 MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 2, 2024 Commissioners Present: Mr. Troy Henderson,Chairman Mr. Rick James, Vice-Chairman Mr. Jim Woltz Mr. Kelly McMurray Mr. Wayne Bower - - - Staff Present: Mr. Philip Thompson, Secretary Mr. Alexander Jones, Principal Planner Mr. Ross Hammes, Planner II Ms. Alyssa Dunbar, Planner I Ms. Skylar Camerlinck, Planner Ms. Cecelia Thomas, Recording Secretary WORK SESSION Mr. Henderson called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m. Approval of Agenda Mr. James made a motion to approve the agenda, which passed 5-0. Approval of Minutes Mr. Bower made a motion to approve the minutes from December 4, 2023, which passed 5-0. Consent Agenda 1. The petition of Patricia M. Sink to rezone approximately 5.545 acres from AG-3, Agricultural/Rural Preserve District, to AV, AgriculturalNillage Center District, located at 3455 Pitzer Road, Vinton Magisterial District. Ms. Dunbar and the Planning Commission discussed the intent, the current zoning, and the future land use designation of the property. It was noted by staff that the request is consistent with the future land use designation. 2. The petition of Appalachian Power Company to rezone approximately 3.255 acres from C-2, High Intensity Commercial District, to 1-2, High Intensity Industrial District, located at 1835 Loch Haven Drive, Catawba Magisterial District. Ms: Dunbar presented the current use, current zoning, and future land use designation. Mr. McMurray made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which passed 5-0. Election of Officers Mr. Bower made.a motion to elect Mr. James as Chairman, which passed 5-0. ,1 ROANOKE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES JANUARY 2, 2024 Mr. James made a motion to elect Mr. Bower as Vice-Chairman, which passed 5-0. Discussion of 2024 Planning Commission Schedule Mr. Thompson explained the revisions to the 2024 Planning Commission Schedule. Mr. Woltz made a motion to approve the revised schedule, which passed 5-0. Discussion on the Roanoke County 200 Plan Mr. Jones reviewed the revised chapters regarding Community Facilities, Land Use and Housing,, and Natural andCultural Resources. Citizens Comments There were none. Comments of Planning Commissioners and Staff Mr. Thompson introduced Skylar Camerlinck, Planner I, to the Planning Commission. Mr. Thompson noted that Lionel Cruz-Cruz is leaving Roanoke County to work at AEP.
