The motion passed 4-0. Approval of Minutes Mr. McMurray made a motion to'approve the.minutes from July 1, 2025, which passed 3-0-1 with Mr. Henderson abstaining.. ... The petition of Aila Boyd to obtain a special use permit to operate a short-term rental on approximately 0,5 acre of land.zoned R-1, Low Density ResidentialDistrict, located at 3352 Colonial Avenue, Cave Spring.Magisterial District. Ms. Camerlinck presented an. overview of the petition, the current use, proposed use, and future land use designation. , : It was noted that the owner:will be occupying the upstairs of the home. There'will be no more than 4 guests at a time, and it will only be rented for a maximum of two weeks a = month. i Nrt ROANOKE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES SEPTEMBER 2, 2025 2. The petition of Hotel Shift Capital, LLC to obtain a special use permit to construct 110 multi-family dwelling units on approximately 3.35 acres of land zoned C-2, High Intensity Commercial District, located at 6510 and 6520 Thirlane Road, Catawba Magisterial District. Mr. Grim presented an overview of the petition, the current use, proposed use, and future land use designation. Mr. Woltz questioned potential rental costs, which were noted by staff as $900-1100. There was a discussion about how further information has been requested from the applicant. 3. The petition of WRV Properties, LLC, to rezone approximately 25.3 acres from ARS, Agricultural/Residential District, to I-1, Low Intensity Industrial District, and to obtain a special use permit to operate a retail sales/general office and construction yard located at 3233 Catawba Valley Drive, Catawba Magisterial District. Ms. Dunbar presented an overview of the petition, the current use, proposed use, and future land use designation. Mr. Henderson made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which passed 5-0.4 Discussion of West Roanoke River Greenway Feasibility Study Mr. Isaac Henry presented a draft of the West Roanoke River Greenway Feasibility Study. Discussion of Glenvar Center Plan Mr. Isaac Henry presented the status of the Glenvar Center Plan, as well as next steps. Citizen's Comments There were none. Comments of Planning Commissioners of Planning Staff Ms. Sarah Gilmore presented recent updates regarding the Social Media Strategic Plan and showed examples of videos made by staff. Mr. Thompson noted that there is a community meeting for the Windsor Hills District on September 25th at 6:00 p.m. at South County Library. Mr. Thompson informed the Planning Commission that on October 1st there will be another Housing Study webinar at 6:00 p.m. Final Orders Mr. Thompson noted the June Amendments, Shelley Friend, Craighead and Associates, Challenge, LLC, and the July amendments all went before the Board of Supervisors and were approved.
