Approval of Agenda Mr. Azar moved to approve the agenda. Motion passed 4 -0. Discussion of Route 220 Corridor Study Mr. Holladay introduced Mr. Aaron Burdick, Planner from Franklin County. Mr. Holladay provided a Powerpoint presentation. He discussed corridor zoning, acreage, future land use, and sewer and water availability. He also discussed floodplain issues, access issues, historic features, and existing cemeteries. He reviewed various maps of the corridor. Mr. Jarrell inquired about the future route of 1 -73. Mr. Holladay discussed the proposed route in this area. Ms. Hooker inquired about secondary development sites. Mr. Holladay explained secondary sites have more issues for developers to correct. Ms. Hooker expressed concern regarding development of the area prior to creating infrastructure. Mr. McNeil inquired about requiring use of the county water and sewer system in this area, Mr. Holladay discussed this issue. Mr. Thompson discussed Tier 1 and Tier 2 development classification. Mr. Azar suggested removing all residential designations from the proposed corridor. He recommended requiring water and sewer hookup for all development within the corridor. He expressed concern developers will not provide sufficient engineering information for each petition. Mr. Holladay discussed mixed use development. Mr. McNeil stated restrictions should be as thorough as possible. Discussion of Zoning Ordinance Amendments (Article II) Mr. Murphy stated many of the proposed changes to the ordinance are due to changes in the state code, Erosion & Sediment Control regulations, and definitions. He and the commissioners discussed the proposed amendments. Comments of Planning Commissioners and Planning Staff Mr. Thompson discussed needing a . CIP IP Committee representative. Ms. Hooker made a motion to appoint Mr. Thompson or his designee. Motion passed 4 -0. Mr. Thompson discussed 15t Floor Board Room renovations. He stated the Planning Commission Public Hearings will be held in the former Public Safety Building on Peters Creek Road beginning in October. Mr. Thompson stated the Roanoke City Planning Commission has invited Roanoke County Planning Commission to attend a joint worksession on September 7, 2007, at 12:00 noon at the Roanoke City Municipal Building. Mr. Jarrell made a motion to attend the joint worksession. Motion passed 4 -0. Ms. Hooker discussed a letter received from Ms. Barbara Duerk regarding connectivity of the greenways.
