AGENDA
The Planning Commission work session is a public meeting. As such, the public is welcome to attend
and listen to the discussion; the work session, however, is not a public hearing.
Notice: No applications have been received for the Planning Commission;
therefore, there will be no public hearing on January 8, 2018.
I. Joint meeting with Roanoke County Planning Commission:
Oak Grove planning study
City’s Comprehensive Plan update
II. Review of Upcoming Matters before the Planning Commission on February 12, 2018:
A.Application by Puppyland, Ltd., to amend proffered conditions on property located at 745
Townside Road, S.W., bearing Official Tax Parcel No. 5490307, for the purpose of adding an
additional use: kennel, outdoor pens or runs.
B.Application by F. V. Cemetery Company, Inc., to rezone a portion of property located at 752

31 Street, N.W., 744 31 Street, N.W., 742 31 Street, N.W., and 736 31 Street, N.W.,
bearing Official Tax Parcel Nos. 2530107, 2530123, 2530113, and 2530122, respectively; from

C.Application by Kawaja Corporation to amend proffered conditions on property located at 1919

D.Motion to schedule a public hearing for March 12, 2018, or as soon thereafter as the matter
may be heard, to amend the Official Zoning Map to rezone property located at 2320 Mason Mill
Road, N.E.; 2402 Mason Mill Road, N.E.; and 2410 Mason Mill Road, N.E.; bearing Office Tax
Map Nos. 7170504, 7170505, and 7170509, respectively, from R-5, Residential Single-Family
District, to I-1, Light Industrial District, no conditions, for the public necessity, convenience, and
general welfare, and to promote good zoning practice.

E.Motion to schedule a public hearing for March 12, 2018, or as soon thereafter as the matter
may be heard, to consider proposed amendment to Chapter 36.2, Zoning, of the Code of the
City of Roanoke (1970), as amended, by amending and reordaining the following code section
to update, clarify, and make the City’s zoning ordinance easier to use for its citizens, such
amendment not constituting a comprehensive rezoning or changing of any densities unless
