HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2009, AT 6:30 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT
THE VINTON MUNICIPAL BUILDING LOCATED AT 311 SOUTH POLLARD STREET.

The meeting of the Vinton Planning Commission was called to order at 6:32 p.m. Vice Chair Drewery,
Ms. Michelsen, Mr. Pace, and Mr. Patterson were present. Mr. Jones was absent.
The next item of business was the approval of minutes. Vice Chair Drewery asked if anyone had any
additions or changes for the October 25, 2007, minutes. No one did, and Mr. Patterson made a motion to
approve them as submitted. Ms. Michelsen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken, and all
members present voted in favor of the motion to approve the October 25, 2007, minutes as submitted.
Next for approval were the minutes from May 7, 2008. Mr. Patterson made a motion to approve those as
submitted, and Ms. Michelsen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken, and all members present
voted in favor of the motion to approve the May 7, 2008, minutes as submitted. The December 10, 2008,
minutes were also considered. Mr. Patterson also made a motion to approve them as submitted, and Ms.
Michelsen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and all members present voted in favor of the
motion to approve them as submitted as well.
Next on the agenda was the discussion on the proposed amendments to the sign ordinance, a copy of which
will be made a part of the permanent record. Ms. Drewery opened the public hearing and asked if anyone
had any revisions for or questions about the proposed amendments to it. No one did and there were no
citizens in attendance to comment on the changes; therefore, Ms. Drewery closed the public hearing. Mr.
Patterson made a motion to approve the proposed amendments to the sign ordinance as presented. Mr.
Pace seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and all members present voted in favor of Mr.
Patterson’s motion.

In other business, the Commissioners decided to wait to hold elections until there is a full board present.
Ms. Tucei mentioned the Vinton Area Corridors Plan meeting being held until 8 p.m. at the War
Memorial, and invited each of them to attend after this meeting was adjourned. Ms. Michelsen mentioned
the Planning Commissioner’s training sessions she had been to and completed, and she said she had never
received her certificate of completion. Ms. Turman said she would check into that for her with the person
who was in charge of the training.
With there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m. by Vice Chair Drewery.
