Summary The Town received a second $65,000.00 in grant funding from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment (OIPI) on August 30, 2017. Rhodeside & Harwell and EPR-PC are the consultants hired by OIPI to provide the professional consulting services for the development of the Public Realm Design Guidelines and the Action Plan for the Downtown UDA, and the framework for the zoning and subdivision ordinances revisions. Planning personnel along with Amanda McGee, Regional Planner II, with Roanoke Valley- Alleghany Regional Commission (RVARC) began working with the consultants in October 2017 via email and conference calls. The UDA Advisory Committee comprised of property/business owners, members of the Town Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals, was established in November 2017. Several meetings were held with the UDA Advisory Committee; January 25, April 30, and a final meeting on December 3, 2018. A public open house was also held on April 30, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Vinton War Memorial. A webpage link: https://www.vintonva.gov/index.aspx?nid=422 has been made available to the UDA members and the general public to access the documents for the each of the meetings, including the December 3rd meeting.
